There is nothing more valuable to life on Earth than water, and all water is sacred, the first medicine for all human beings. The toxic waste mining process, in particular the mining of the human mind, has been going on for at least 10,000 years. However long that may seem, 10K years is less than 5% of modern human history, but that is thousands of years of water being poisoned by human waste that must be cleaned up in order for us to survive this man-made "apocalypse". There are many human beings who have been blinded by the industrial ruling class, which is solely responsible for producing toxic waste for its promotion of profit over human life, to believe that waste is an inevitable result of the human condition and "how it's already been". There is also a disparity between so-called "developed nations" in the Global North, versus the "third-world" Global South, which has become a "sacrifice zone" for the greedy, selfish, and filthy habits and lifestyles of those in the Global North, built on the exploitation of human beings in the Global South, who are the ones on the frontlines of the man-made climate disaster. One striking example is how though though the African produces less than 4% of global emissions, in the West African country of Chad, only 6% of the population has access to clean drinking water. This is almost exclusively the result of toxic waste produced by international corporations taking advantage of Africa's natural resources by international corporations with no regard for the lives of local residents. However stark the comparison may seem between Chad and the US, which has about 94% of its population supplied with clean drinking water, whereas Chad has 94% of its population WITHOUT potable water, the statistics can be misleading, because while Chad has 16 million people without access to tap water, there are about the same amount, or roughly 16 million people, living in the US who have polluted drinking water. This should drive home that no matter where anyone lives on the planet, regardless of country, if they are sitting on top of natural resources, the extractive industry will be coming for them sooner or later, because nothing is sacred to them - Not even themselves!
There are many who call themselves water protectors, and while their dedication to sacred water is admirable, they have in reality done very little to stall the toxic waste mining process. Protesting has proven an ineffective means of combating the extractive industry, mainly due to the fact that fossil fuel companies essentially own governments around the world, mainly through corruption and the vast sums they invest in political campaigns of "pro-petroleum" lobbying, emphasized by the more than 500 oil, gas, and coal companies present at the Conference of Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Framework on Global Climate Change. The environmental crimes being committed by fossil fuel companies amount to nothing less than mass-murder and "ecocide". Simply put there is no "political solution" to the man-made climate crisis. The common sense solution, according to nearly every climate scientist, is that the only way to avoid catastrophic climate destruction is through an immediate reduction in global emissions, and the entire world to cease fossil fuel extraction and go "green" by 2050 at the very latest. Despite the consistent warnings and pleas from the U.N. Attorney General, they have mostly fallen on "deaf ears", as governments around the world allow mining companies to relentlessly rape Mother Earth to extract fossil fuels, continuing to maintain the status quo of toxic waste production, which has contaminated the water of billions of human beings around the world.
"Consumption" has falsely been equated with "waste". Consumption is an inevitable human condition, as human beings must consume natural resources in order to grow and thrive, but waste is completely unnecessary. "Waste" originates from the toxic mining process, not only of the Earth's resources, but also the human mind. The word 'people' is derived from the term "to destroy", whereas 'human' comes from the same source of 'humus' or soil, implying that all human beings come from the Earth. Modern human conditioning has caused most people to become disconnected from Nature and to forget that they originate and will eventually return to the Earth! Every Creation story states that human beings emerged from the Earth, and our sole purpose is to protect, steward, and take responsibility for all living and non-living beings. The most honorable duty of a human being is to defend the planet from those who choose to abuse it. Focus on the 'being' part of human, and one will realize that everything is 'energy', and that burning fossil fuels for "energy" has filled the atmosphere with "extreme energy" that causes global climate catastrophes around the world. While the Global South has been enduring the brunt of the environmental crises, who are on the frontlines of a climate crisis that is fast-producing millions of "climate refugees" seeking safety, but are inhumanely rejected by the same countries that are responsible for their suffering! Now the Global North is realizing far too slowly that extreme weather events are coming for them too. However climate-deniers will continue to persist in their debunked theories until their families and communities are directly affected by the destruction caused by manmade climate change!
Water Protector Guild is all about "show and prove" that one is actively participating in water protection and land defense. We are not saying that "desperate times call for desperate measures", because while the need for "climate action" is extremely urgent, we need to accept that these problems are going to "take some time" to solve. While the man-made climate disaster may seem overwhelming, and toxic waste production never-ending, the worst of industrial pollution has come over the past 150 years, or approximately 7 human generations, so imaginably the problems caused by toxic waste can be fixed over the next 7 generations, and that is what the prophecies are telling us. The Industrial Revolution has caused resource extraction to run amok, as extractive industries have seized the global economy, and fossil fuel companies are driving humanity over a cliff! Current rates of burning of fossil fuels will certainly cause the climate to exceed a fatal 1.5 degrees Celsius increase from pre-industrial levels by 2050, or likely sooner as extraction is speeding up instead of decreasing, despite constant warnings that if nothing changes immediately, then we are looking at a level of suffering never before seen in human history. Just look at places like Pakistan, Somalia, or even the Southwestern US where droughts and floods have ruined the lives and livelihoods of millions of people. Meanwhile fossil fuel companies have seized the steering wheel from nearly all international governments, and they're driving manmade climate destruction like "speed demons" with no regard for human life!
We need to take matters into our own hands. Water Protector Guild supports all non-violent means of stopping global production, distribution, and burning of fossil fuel. Protest isn't accomplishing any of the environmental movement's goals. In fact the "Environmental Movement" has become a political identity, rather than a just cause, and we're losing horribly by means of political protest alone. Water Protector Guild is not intentionally discouraging people from protesting, but if we are going to be effective in heeding the urgent cries for help from affected communities that have been turned into "sacrifice zones", and stop extraction in its tracks, then we need to interrupt people's regularly scheduled programs. Basically we need to find a way to "get away with" interfering to extractive industries. Instead of getting ourselves arrested by locking down on a machine for a few hours, or getting our asses kicked by the police, water protectors and land defenders need to avoid becoming "convicted criminals". The "justice system" will always take the side of industry. They will shame us in the eyes of the dominant society, and do their very best to ruin our lives for interfering with their profits, labeling us "felons" and destroying our reputations with a legal status that will prevent us from voting, getting decent jobs, or even qualifying for housing. If you do in fact get caught non-violently resisting, contact the Water Protector Legal Collective, and they will offer you free legal council and financial assistance for bail and/or bond that will help keep you out of the prison industrial complex. Water protectors deserve to be honored for taking up the mantle of this most noble of causes, not be "criminalized", and punished for the rest of their lives by this discriminatory settler-colonial society, which is allowed to legally enslave millions of people for profit in the penal system. Better yet don't let yourselves get caught!
Sometimes sabotage is the only means to halt the production and distribution of fossil fuels. Water Protector Guild is different from other "water protection" organizations in that we are anonymous, and we will offer suggestions privately, which is designed to protect the identities of water protectors from retribution. All around the world environmental protectors are being murdered, assassinated, and disappeared by illegal extractive industries. WPG has great respect for those who are willing to identify themselves and make their resistance public. Have compassion for them, because these public land defenders and water protectors are literally putting their necks on the line, and many are the ones catching death threats from those who hate the Earth, and see only what they can take from her and rape her. Environmental protection is often seen through as "white-washed", as in Greta Thunberg crossing the ocean in a boat like some kind of colonial settler here to save the day, but the resistance is primarily led by Indigenous women! There is a reason First Nations women are raped, murdered, and go missing at terrifying rates, they are devalued by industrial society and not treated as human beings, which is why white authorities won't even search for them when they disappear. That's because Indigenous women are the Earth! Indigenous peoples are viewed by dominant Western society through a genocidal lens. In order to protect Mother Earth, we have to destroy the "pathological settler unconscious", which is only concerned with raping the planet for the benefit of a few at the expense of many.
No matter how many millions of oil and gas are spilled, or billions of cubic tons of toxic emissions deteriorate the atmosphere, these are just statistics that most are kept blind about, and if they do know, they feel overwhelmed and try not to think about it, or if they do care, they can't possibly imagine what they can do to help. The same few people who own Western media are often those who made their money by benefitting off of resource extraction, so of course news stations claim fossil fuel production is "essential" to the global economy, when even the United Nations is saying that the current level of fossil fuel extraction is literally "suicidal"! These same companies always claim they are "safe", but when a spill inevitably happens, they promise that it won't happen again, and spills continue every day, be they slow leaks or major ruptures in pipelines or toxic waste "tailing ponds", like a drop in a bucket from a leaky faucet that eventually overflows. It's nearly impossible to fill a gas tank without spilling a single drop of gasoline. Imagine what the equivalent of one drop from a 2.5 gallon gas can looks like when it's coming from a pipeline carrying 2.5 MILLION gallons.
Water Protector Guild does not want your money. We want to educate yourselves on important environmental issues around the world, get in contact with those resisting extractive industry decimating their communities, and support them directly. For those who insist on donating to WPG, we have a fiscal agent that will enable you to make a tax-deductible donation, and we'll find a way to spend it wisely. Though we want our articles shared far and wide, aside from sharing direct links to WPG's pages, we have no social media presence, we do not participate in Google Analytics, nor do we track our users' "cookies". Always remember social media platforms and search engines are here for a single purpose - To sell things. If we are not careful, then WPG's mission will be exploited by fossil fuel companies running "green-washing" campaigns, and be indirectly complicit with the same exploitative industries that we are fighting against. This is often the case with activism, reactivity resulting in an emotional and divisive "us versus them" mentality, which distracts from the issues at hand, which is how in an industrial society there is no such thing as "environmental justice" - There's "just us"! True power comes from the people. We are the living batteries and the toxic waste process began with mining our minds, and extracting the human soul, which drains human beings until they become "soulless". How many times have you heard someone say "I'm just a person"? That is ignorant of the spiritual power which resides in all human beings. "Power" has been co-opted by industrial society to mean either electricity, monetary wealth, or violent access to political authority, but these are just illusions, and they are merely fragile structures which prey on the majority of humanity to benefit the industrial ruling class. WPG encourages everyone to realize that WE ARE POWER, to take spiritual responsibility for protecting the Earth, water, and all beings living and non-living, and to try our best to both stop and clean up the destruction caused by extractive industries!
First of all realize that you are POWER. You are a human being, an energy source, and that you are being exploited by the industrial ruling class. The mission of Water Protector Guild is truth-telling, honest reporting, and being confrontational with the authorities responsible for allowing the extractive industry to prey on vulnerable communities. We also strive to clean up the mess in every single way possible. One simple way to start is by collecting trash and making sure that it doesn't get in our waterways. Of course landfills gradually seep toxins into the groundwater, but the best way to start is by focusing on what is right in front of you in your immediate environment, identifying the problem, doing something to stop it, and the simplest problem to recognize is littering. Start with removing trash off the street, and get it out of the environment before it gets into local waterways, and move forward from there. There will always be apathetic people who don't care about the environment, and they will continue to throw trash out of the windows of their vehicles, or there are even those who throw old motor oil containers into lakes, streams, and rivers. Then there are those who will cynically say "you can't get it all" - Don't listen to those people! Don't be discouraged! Water Protector Guild encourages everyone to take direct action. You don't have to crawl into a pipeline or disable extractive machinery to make a difference. Leave that to the hardcore folks willing to risk it all and put their lives on the line. By doing simple common sense things like taking a bag to collect refuse is enough, but don't get carried away thinking that throwing things away will fix the problem, because there is no such thing as "away". Everything goes somewhere. The goal is to get the litter and pollution out of the environment, properly dispose of the waste, and get to remediating landfills when the opportunity presents itself. We are fighting a battle on all fronts here. Start small and work you way up to where you can then show people how to protect the Earth effectively, instead of marching to demand a political solution that will never come. We are all alive during this most difficult time in human history because we have strong spirits, but if we let our souls get consumed by extraction, then humanity will fade out. Mother Earth has time to heal herself, but we don't, so we as human beings must take immediate action.
What specifically does Water Protector Guild actually do to protect the environment? Here is a shortlist: removing chemicals from waterways using polypropylene mats, preventing soil erosion, reforesting, removing invasive plants, and of course trash clean-up. The first step to finding a solution is to properly identify a problem. Send us photos and videos of affected areas you are concerned about. Some of this work is not for everyone, and can be quite dangerous, especially water pollution control, which can possibly lead to sickness from exposure to raw sewage, or serious injury from the unstable ground caused by oil slicks. Everyone knows the expression "oil and water don't mix". However what most don't know is that unlike vegetable oil that floats, petroleum oil sinks in water, and causes erosion as it embeds itself in the stream and riverbanks. Also these toxic chemicals gradually seep into the groundwater and eventually form downdraws that contaminate the aquifer, wells, and unprotected drinking water sources. Erosion control can only be effective if there is a bottom-up approach by removing the petroleum using polypropylene oil mats, and reforestation must be done from the top-down, until there is a happy medium between the land and water. Protecting water requires constant vigilance. Every time there is a severe rainstorm, more petrol-chemicals, especially those slowly leaking out from millions of automobiles, will get in the waterways, spreading petroleum mixed with human waste all over the banks. Even though floods may bring with them plumes of toxic chemicals, they also purify the water by bringing petroleum to the surface, and making it much more simple to clean up.
The more evidence you have of pollution in your environment, the stronger your case will be to do something about it, but you will inevitably face resistance from the local, state, and federal authorities, who will continually deny responsibility and give you the run-around, with few exceptions. For instance the Clean Water Act is about as good as toilet paper at the current level of enforcement, and in most states the Department of Energy & Environment are one in the same, so it's virtually impossible to maintain a clean environment when extraction and environmental protection are regulated by the same agency. Water Protector Guild will help you fight these institutions, hold them accountable, and find legal resources that may or may not force the government to clean up the mess. While there is no political solution, because the majority of lawmakers are in the pocket of extractive industries, we can at least put up a resistance to get them to enforce laws that are already on the books. For instance people talk about dead trees killed by invasive insects as the main cause of forest fires, which is certainly a major problem, but another reason nobody seems to be talking about is the amount of flammable chemicals in the groundwater! With the extended fire-fighting season, firefighters are so exhausted from fighting fires that they barely have any time or energy to clean up toxic chemicals, the problem continues to get worse. Fires don't burn without fuel, so if the ground itself is burning, clearly there must be flammable chemicals in the groundwater!
Accountability is very difficult to achieve when the extractive companies that cause toxic spills are "limited liability corporations", who can declare bankruptcy or pay a small fine in comparison with their annual profits, then get back to work raping the Earth under a different name. That doesn't mean people should throw up their arms and quit, just because the authorities won't take any responsibility for demanding restitution from these companies for their environmental damage, or make any effort to heal the planet. They never have before so why would start now? It's a fantasy to think that political protest, recycling, and "zero net-loss" are going to fix any of the environmental degradation caused by extractive industries and their toxic waste mining. That's why it's up to restore and protect our local environments one at a time until we can unite the entire world, and stop living the lie of industrial society as being the only way. We're better off in the Stone Age, and that's not a joke, because we're fooling ourselves if we think modern technology can save us. Our ancestors were living right, and by severing that link to our genetic past, there is no way that people can be connected to their descendants. WPG encourages you to think 7 generations ahead. You have a responsibility as a human being to clean up the planet. Pick up trash. Get some PIG mats and walk around parking lots looking for pools of oil from people's leaky cars to sop up. Just do the best you can do, and be part of the solution, not the problem. Let us know how you are doing, or what issues you'd like to draw to our attention, by emailing us at waterprotectorinfo@gmail.com!
